From the Clinic to Consulting
The Changing Face of Veterinary Medicine
In recent years, consolidation has reshaped the veterinary industry — creating both new opportunities and new challenges. Independent practices now compete on an uneven playing field, often without the built-in support systems corporate groups enjoy: marketing teams, recruitment pipelines, IT departments, HR resources, and the purchasing power that comes with vendor leverage.
But this shift hasn’t been all negative. The growth of corporate groups has pushed the industry toward modernization, operational efficiency, stronger team utilization, and more strategic financial planning. These advancements have encouraged practice owners in all models to take a more business-minded approach to leadership and growth.
Still, the decline in privately owned hospitals has narrowed diversity in care options and reduced opportunities for veterinary professionals who prefer the private practice environment. Revitalizing independent practices is essential, not only to preserve client choice, but to sustain healthy, balanced career paths for veterinary teams.
That’s where I come in.
I work with veterinary professionals who are committed to exceptional patient and client care and who want to build strong, sustainable practices without the backing of a corporate structure.
With over 25 years as a Certified Veterinary Technician and 15+ years in hospital management, I’ve worked across general practice, exotics, wildlife, equine, and zoo medicine in both independent and corporate settings. My first-hand experience, paired with a dedication to ongoing education, gives me the insight and practical strategies to help independent practices not just survive, but thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
